Fall Family Photos
Everyone wants to have their family photos done in the fall. But especially in Utah, fall family photos are the best. The mountains come alive with color, the temperature is perfect, there’s truly no better time to have family photos done.

And what’s even cooler than having family photos? Having your photos done on the land you just purchased to build your dream home on! And that’s exactly what the Ence family did. I’ve known Biz Ence for a while. She’s a florist based in Salt Lake City, Utah that I’ve had the pleasure of working with a few times! When Biz told me what the plan was, I was so excited! But little did I know how much better the plan would get. As we drove out to the property I saw nothings but empty hills, fall leaves, tall grass, and a perfect sunset, any Utah family photographer’s dream.
Fall Family Photos in the Utah Mountains
There’s something so fun about families with little kids. There’s no cranky teenager attitudes, no overly posed photos, just silliness and playing with kids. It took their son a little but of time to warm up to me, but once he was being thrown in the air and hung upside down, we were great friends.
Mom and Dad
Something I’m passionate about when it comes to family photos is making sure that mom and dad get good photos of just the two of them. As the foundation of the family, their love needs to be documented. Those photos are important reminders to future generations of where they came from. Who founded the family. And the example of love of each other that parents need to have. I want their grandkids to look back on these photos and say “I want a love like grandma and grandpa”.
Equally as important are photos of just the kids, or in this case, kid. Childhood moves so fast, especially while the kids are little.
I was so glad I got to be a part of this moment for them. It’s wild to think that someday these photos will be hanging on the walls of their home, some of them in the very same spot they were taken. I hope all future home-building couples do this for their family photos!
