McPolin Farm is a public farm in Park City, Utah, but more importantly, it’s one of my favorite places to take photos. Settled into a little valley and surrounded by mountains, McPolin Farm is beautiful in all seasons. The iconic white barn is visible from the highway, and makes the perfect backdrop for photos!
Recently McPolin Farm has been popular for one particular kind of shoot; surprise proposals. In the last year I’ve shot three surprise proposals there, and they’re some of my favorite shoots ever!
Proposing can be stressful, and I want to help you make the perfect plan to get the job done! First, contact your photographer. Provide a range of dates of availability, this way the photographer will be able to make sure they’re available. Your photographer will also be able to advise on what time of day you should plan to propose. And obviously I would LOVE to be your photographer, contact me using the link below!
Next, decide if you want the photographer to be hidden or visible. For the above photos, I pretended I was there for a different photo session, and they asked me for a photo since they came from out of state and wanted to commemorate their trip. I offered to take their emails and do some photos with my professional camera for them. That’s when he got down on one knee and proposed! You could easily have a completely hidden photographer at certain areas of McPolin Farm, so if this is something you’re interested in, let the photographer know. And photographers can also help create a setup at the location. Consider having flowers, a note, and maybe a sign at the location for your partner.
Finally, plan to dress appropriately! From late October to late April, it’s pretty chilly in Park City, Utah. So if you don’t want to let your partner know they’ll be taking photos, plan an outing that will require warm clothes.
Congratulations! Time to celebrate with a good meal, some skiing, and maybe even a little shopping. For more things to do in Park City, Utah click the link below!
